Welcome to Dining Services at Virginia Commonwealth University!
VCU Dining Services is proud to support the student experience.
Award Winning Program
Recently, we’ve been recognized by several national organizations for our programs and facilities.
NACAS (National Association of College Auxiliary Services) presented VCU Dining Services with the Golden Award for the
Guest Restaurant Program, which introduces students to minority-owned authentic, ethnic restaurants as part of their dining plan.
NACUFS (National Association of College and University Food Service) awarded VCU Dining Services a Best in Business
award for Jonah’s, a culinary emporium.
In 2009, University Business named Shafer Court Dining Center as the top public institution dining center in their
Dining Halls of Distinction contest.
Opportunities for Students
Whether a student enjoys our all-you-care-to-eat dining center on the top floor of Shafer Court Dining
Center, or dines at one of the many brands on campus, dining is no longer just about a meal. It’s an experience.
Monthly, VCU Dining Services hosts a Guest Restaurant in Market 810. Through this program, a local, minority-owned ethnic
cuisine restaurant is invited into Market 810 to prepare meals for our students.
Additionally, once a month, VCU Dining Services hosts some sort of event activity for students. Some
of the popular events include karaoke night, arcade night and casino night. There is no additional charge to the
students once they’re inside the dining center.
At the end of each semester, VCU Dining Services partners with the SGA to host a Late Night Breakfast
for all students. Students feast on breakfast food, interact with college administrators and participate in contests.
ARAMARK Higher Education, LLC., VCU Dining Services contracted food service provider, provides $5,000 in scholarship
money each year. These scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic scholarship in
the classroom, while promoting diversity and multiculturalism at VCU.

Opportunities for Community
Through its partner in service, ARAMARK Higher Education, LLC., VCU Dining Services provides jobs to over 500 people
from the local community.
As part of our Dining Program, we partner with local minority-owned restaurants to bring ethnic cuisine
to the students.
Continuously Adopting to New Trends
